About the Workshop

Guidelines for the design of Flexible pavements have been recently revised by the Indian Roads  Congress in Nov. 2018 . To upgrade the knowledge of professionals of Northern India in line with these guidelines, General Highways And Infracon Pvt. Ltd. (GHAIPL) in association with National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh is organising One Day Workshop on “Design of Flexible Pavements as per IRC:37-2018”

Er. Inderjit Ghai is also Chairman of Civil Engineers Academy and Research Centre (CEA&RC), a non profit making Regd. society working for the welfare of Civil Engineering fraternity. The aim of the society is to up grade the knowledge and skills of professionals related to civil infrastructure jobs, by way of holding workshops, providing training through capsule courses tailor made as per requirements of the industry, to minimize the gap between “Qualified” Engineer and “Employable” Engineer. In the past almost all Engineers of HSAMB have been trained in design and construction of Flexible Pavements and newly recruited Engineers of Punjab Govt. since 2011 have been trained in use of modern surveying equipments. A workshop was conducted by this society in 2018 at Chandigarh on planning ,design and construction of Elevated Grade Separator with wide deck and single central pier in urban areas.

About NITTTR

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India established Regional Technical Teachers’ Training Institute (now National Institute of Technical T  The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India established Regional Technical Teachers’ Training Institute (now National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research, NITTTR) at Chandigarh in 1967. It was designed to meet the requirements of developing polytechnic education in the northern region covering the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi and Union Territory of Chandigarh. The Institute is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and is managed by a Board of Governors. The Institute has been recognized as a ‘Research Centre’ by Panjab University, Chandigarh (in 2006) as well as by Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar (Punjab) (in 2005) for pursuing research work leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy i.e. Ph.D. eachers Training & Research, NITTTR) at Chandigarh in 1967. Key Speakers

Dr. Sunil Bose

Dr. Bose has retired as Deputy Director and Head, Flexible Pavements Division of CRRI in 2011. He studied in IIT Kharagpur and completed his B.Tech., M.Tech  and PhD (Civil Engg) from there. He has published more than 150 papers in national and international journals (Transportation Research Board, International Journal of pavement Engineering, USA ASCE and others). He was awarded Bihar Medal for best research papers and Jawahar Lal Nehru Award and 4 other awards for his significant contribution in the field of Highway Engineering. He is a member of Flexible Pavement Committee H2 and H9 of IRC and has contributed in the preparation of a number of Codes and Specifications, and a member of the National Panel of Experts constituted by the Ministry of Surface Transport. He is Advisor to a number of renowned infrastructure developers.

Er. Bidur Kant Jha

Er. Jha is M. Tech. (Transportation Engineering) from IIT Kharagpur. He joined LEA Associates South Asia Pvt. Ltd. and is currently General Manager (Pavement & Materials). He is member of many technical committees constituted by IRC and MORT&H. He is also a guest faculty of IAHE, Noida. He has altogether 19 years of professional experience and his core areas of expertise are investigations & evaluation of existing pavements, material testing & characterization, value engineered design of new pavements & long-performing rehabilitation/maintenance design of existing pavements. He has worked in India, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya & Zambia. Four of his papers have been published in International Seminars & Indian Highways of IRC.

Dr. Ajay Duggal

Dr. Duggal is Associate Professor at NITTTR, Chandigarh. His Research Area is Transportation Engg, Pavement Design and Construction.
